Fire Pump Inspections
Inspections of weekly fire pumps are designed to verify that they are operating without damage and appear to be in good condition. Items that are included in these inspections include:
- Proper heating
- Ventilation
- Valves
- Gauge readings
- Electrical system conditions
- Fuel and oil levels
Fire Pump Testing
In terms of tests for fire pumps, they require two different types at different intervals: an annual flow test and a no-flow test.
Fire Pump No-Flow Test
- Depending on system weekly or monthly
- Pump operates properly without flowing water
- Automatically starts
Fire Pump Annual Flow
- Required annually
- Verifies pump performance during different conditions
- RPM at pump
You can rely on Altus Fire & Life Safety Experts to perform these tests and document their results. Despite the complexity of fire pump testing, our team has the experience and equipment to complete these tests with confidence and care.
Fire Pump Maintenance
In order for a fire protection system to function effectively, fire pumps and associated components are necessary. Preventive maintenance programs will increase the reliability of the system while reducing or eliminating costly repairs. In accordance with NFPA 25, a preventive maintenance program should be performed immediately following completion of the pump assembly’s acceptance tests.
With Altus, you’ll get a preventive maintenance plan for your electric or diesel fire pump. Every facility and equipment has different needs.
A preventive maintenance program for a fire pump can include the following:
- Engine maintenance
- Battery maintenance
- Fuel supply maintenance
- Temperature maintenance
- Fire pump controller service
- Emergency service
We tailor our services to fit your specific needs. With our Program-Based Service, you’ll have easy access to all your fire pump records, both in print and online through our secure Customer Portal.
